Estou  muito entusiasmada com as novidades que vos trago hoje! 

Entrei num concurso!

É a primeira vez que entro num concurso e, ainda por cima é internacional! Estou tão entusiasmada! Seria tão bom ganhar! LOL

A Harlequin Beads, um fornecedor americano promove todos os meses um concurso e eu tenho observado com algum desejo de participar mas... Dá sempre aquele friozinho na barriga, né?! 

Ao receber a newsletter deste mês vi que o desafio era redesenhar um dos kits disponíveis na loja deles e fui espreitar. Não foi preciso muito mais para me decidir e concorri! Depois de enviar a minha participação, pensei "Ai! E se eles não gostam? E se não sou aceite?!" Lá veio o tal friozinho na barriga outra vez mas, fui aceite e rapidamente os meus brincos estavam online! E sabem que mais?  

Sou a única artesã portuguesa inscrita!

I'm very excited about the news I bring today!

I'm in a contest!

It's my first time entering a contest and, it's an international contest! I'm so excited! Wouldn't it be great if I won?! LOL

Harlequin Beads, an american supplier has a monthly contest and I have been watching them happening wishing to take part in all the fun but... I always get butterflies in my stomach!

When I received the newsletter anouncing August's Jewelry-Making Contest i saw that this month's chalenge was to redesign on of their kits: A new twist on a Harlequin Beads Design, and I decided to have a look. It didn't take much to make up my mind and I entered the contest! After sending in my entry, I thought "Oh! What if they don't like it? What if I'm not accepted?" all the butterflies came flying back in to my stomach but, I got accepted and soon my earrings were online! And you know what? 

I'm the only Portuguese artist entering the contest!

Now I need your help, I need your votes to win!

Novo estúdio de DeCris Creations! / DeCris Creations' New studio!

Studio makeover!

A semana passada disse que tinha feito alterações no meu estúdio e prometi que vos contaria tudo num próximo post... Cá está ele! O post, quero eu dizer!

Como todo o mundo e arredores sabe, eu faço anos em Setembro, a 10 de Setembro para ser mais precisa (marquem na agenda - gosto de contas de pedras semi-preciosas, arames e chocolate After Eight!). Mais uma vez, vamos andar com o tempo para trás até Setembro do ano passado... Entre outras prendas brilhantes e deliciosas, recebi um cartão-presente do Ikea! Wooohooo! Qualquer coisa relacionada com o Ikea é bom duas vezes, porque vem sempre acompanhada da minha cunhada: eu não vou ao Ikea sem a minha Ikea-expert e adoro a companhia da minha cunhadinha!

Tinha grandes planos para este cartão... Decidi que este presente ia ser para mim, e não para a casa. Guardei-o por muito tempo porque, infelizmente o Ikea não faz entregas e o meu carro não me permite transportar coisas grandes, por isso tive que esperar até aparecer uma oportunidade. Essa oportunidade apareceu em Junho na forma do carro da minha mãe! :)

Se bem se lembram, o meu estúdio consistia numa pequena secretária e umas caixinhas para guardar os materiais e ferramentas... Se não se lembram, eu ajudo...

Bom, ele cresceu... E cresceu... E cresceu...  Só que o espaço de arrumação não cresceu!
Apenas foram aparecendo mais caixas para guardar coisas e estava a chegar a um ponto em que se tornava muito difícil encontrar alguma coisa! Para além do que, a "coisa" que eu queria estava sempre numa caixa enterrada debaixo de muitas outras! :s
A minha maior necessidade era espaço de arrumação e organização, por isso comprei três estantes Expedit, como as da foto, e planeava usá-las de uma forma, talvez... pouco convencional!

Depois de chegar a casa com as minhas estantes novas, mais uma vez tive que exercitar a minha paciência e esperar... Estavam a decorrer as obras na casa de banho e tinha a casa toda desarrumada por causa disso!
Assim que tivemos oportunidade, o meu querido marido montou as estantes e depois andei a puxá-las e a empurrá-las de um lado para o outro até encontrar a disposição ideal... Que era aquela que tinha idealizado à partida, só que... falharam-me umas medidas e as estantes acabaram por ficar maiores do que a parede que fica por trás delas. Enfim... Não fica muito bonito, não é o que o meu coraçãozinho perfeccionista almejava, mas também não fica mal!
Cá estão as primeiras fotos, uma visão geral do estúdio, primeiro do lado direito, depois do esquerdo. Lamento as fotos estarem um bocado escuras, foram tiradas à noite, logo após a minha primeira arrumação e limpeza do estúdio. Claro que se eu tivesse apagado a luz da secretária, é possível que tivesse ajudado!

Na primeira foto consegue-se ver onde é que me falharam as medidas... Por trás fica a porta da minha cozinha. Considerando todos os prós e os contras, não fica muito mal: não causa constrangimentos à passagem, e os meus potes e taças de Vidro Marinho ficam mais iluminados!
Vista de perto, a minha mesa de trabalho tinha este aspecto...

... Tinha, porque por esta altura já os meus alicates passaram do lado direito para o centro da mesa, o caderno de apontamentos passou para o lugar onde estavam os alicates e, tendo em conta que parei de trabalhar ontem por volta da meia-noite e meia, a esta altura está um pouco mais desarrumada!

Este post já está a ficar muito longo... No próximo post, vamos dar uma voltinha pelos detalhes do meu estúdio novo. Até lá...

Studio makeover!
Last week I told you I had changed my studio and I promised I'd tell you all about it in the next post... Here it is! The post, I mean!
 
Everyone and anyone knows that my birthday is in September, the 10th September to be accurate (put it on your birthday calendar - I like gemstone beads, wire and After Eight chocolate!). Once again, let's go back in time to last September... Among other brilliant gifts, I got a gift-card from Ikea! Wooohooo! Anything related to Ikea is twice as good because it always comes with my sister-in-law as an attachment: I never go to Ikea without my Ikea-expert and I love my little SIL's company!
I had great plans for this gift-card... I decided this gift would be for me, not for the home. I kept it for a long time because, unfortunately, Ikea does not do home deliveries and I can't carry big things in my car, so I had to wait for an opportunity to buy what I wanted. And this opportunity came in June, when mum and I traveled to my home in her car! :)
You probably remember that my studio was just a desk and a couple of organizers to keep my materials and tools... If you can't remember, I'll help you out...

Well, it grew... And it grew... And it grew... Only, my storage space didn't grow with it!

I just had more and more boxes popping out like mushrooms where I could store stuff and I was getting to a point where it was increasingly hard to find something! Not to mention, the "thing" I wanted was always in a box, buried under many others! :s
My biggest need was storage room and organization space, so I got three Ikea Expedit bookshelves, like the one on the photo, and I planned on using them in way... perhaps a bit unconventional!
After I got home with my new bookshelves, once again I had to exercise my patience and wait... The bathroom makeover was happening and my home was a complete mess because of it!
As soon as possible, my dear husband assembled the bookshelves and then I started pushing and pulling them around until I found the ideal place for them... Which was the exact same place I had idealized in the first place, but... I missed the measurements and the bookshelves ended up a bit bigger than the wall behind them. Oh well... It's not the prettiest sight, it's not what my little perfectionist heart longed for, but it's not ugly either!
Here are the first photos, an overview of the studio, first from the right side, then from the left. I apologize for the dark photos, I took them at night, right after I finished doing my first cleaning and tidying up of the studio. Of course it might have helped if I had turned off the desk lamp!

In the first photo you can see where I made the measurement mistake... On the right side, behind the bookshelf is my kitchen door. All the pros and cons considered, it's not too bad, it doesn't constraint the entrance to the kitchen, and my pots and bowls of Sea Glass have better light!
Up close, my work table looked like this...

... Looked, past tense, because by now my pliers have moved from the right side to the center of my work table, my notebook is now where the pliers were and, considering that last night I stopped working around half past midnight, it's a bit messier by now!


This post is getting quite big... On my next post, I'll take you on a tour of the details of my new studio. 'Till then...

Cris em Aventuras Caseiras / Cris having Home Adventures

Ora bem, ora bem, ora bem...

Depois de tudo o que tem acontecido nestes últimos meses é claro que o meu blog havia de pagar pela minha falta de tempo! O meu blog, a minha loja, os meus clientes, o meu fórum e os meus amigos do FB e do Twitter... Tenho a certeza que todos sentiram a minha falta. (Certo?!)

Deixem-me pôr-vos a par do que tem acontecido por estas bandas...

Depois do falecimento do meu querido pai, passei duas semanas com a minha mãe, na casa dela. Havia uma enormidade de coisas a tratar, especialmente burocracia! Ugh! Eu não acreditava na quantidade de papelada de que temos que tratar quando alguém morre se não tivesse visto! Credo!!!

Depois voltei para casa e convenci a minha mãe a vir comigo! :D

No dia a seguir a ter chegado a casa batem-me à porta. Era um construtor por causa da minha casa-de-banho. Eu explico: Vamos dar um passo atrás, bom, talvez cerca de um ano atrás, por favor, até à altura em que estávamos a ter problemas na garagem do meu prédio. Estava a aparecer água num pilar lá em baixo e não se conseguia descobrir de onde vinha. Então eles andaram a esburacar paredes até encontrarem a raiz do problema, que era... Adivinharam! Na minha casa-de-banho. Havia um buraco num cano da prumada principal do edifício e o buraco estava na zona da minha casa-de-banho!

Como eles fizeram um buraco na minha parede e o prédio tem mais de 15 anos, já não existem azulejos exactamente iguais aos que eles partiram. Por isso... Azulejos novos para a casa-de-banho toda! Vivaaa! E porque era um problema das zonas comuns do edifício o seguro do condomínio cobre a despesa. Maravilha, não é?!

Resumindo: O seguro paga-me a colocação dos azulejos e a minha mãe decidiu oferecer-me um presente maravilhoso: Uma casa-de-banho nova!

Esqueci-me de tirar fotografias do "Antes", mas posso dizer-vos que tinha uma grande banheira cinzenta, um grande lavatório cinzento com mármore e... Bom, basta dizer que era tudo cinzento: azulejos, chão, sanita!... Sim, até a sanita! E eu detestava a casa-de-banho, mas não tinha possibilidades financeiras de fazer alguma coisa, por isso ela estava na minha interminável "lista de coisas a melhorar em casa"!

Aqui estão as fotos do "depois":

ADOOOORO a minha grande cabine de duche! O duche e a barra na parede são as minhas coisas favoritas nesta nova casa-de-banho!

Ficámos com um lavatório mais pequeno com um armário por baixo para arrumação (seriamente necessário, deixem-me dizer-vos), uma sanita BRANCA nova e livrámo-nos daquela monstruosa banheira que só usávamos para tomar duche mesmo, trocando-a por esta linda e brilhante cabine de duche. Ao lado do chuveiro está o meu cesto da roupa suja (que tenciono pintar e reciclar para ser cesto de brinquedos) e a máquina da roupa (não há outro sítio no apartamento para a pôr!).

Estas fotos foram tiradas assim que acabei de limpar depois dos homens terem acabado de a fazer. Agora preciso dedicar-me à decoração... Não querem partilhar umas ideias, por favor?

Instalámos o suporte do chuveiro este fim-de-semana. Precisávamos de um que fosse regulável em altura para que o meu pequeno também o pudesse usar com facilidade. Agora só preciso encontrar o toalheiro ideal e outras coisas do género.

Depois de toda a limpeza feita, atirei-me ao meu estúdio. Tenho mobília nova e uma nova disposição da minha zona de trabalho mas, vou deixar essas novidades para o próximo post...

Well! Well, well, well..

After all that has happened in the last couple of months of course my blog would pay the price of my shortened time! My, blog, my shop, my clients, my forum and FB & Twitter friends.. I'm sure they all missed me. (Right?!)

Let me get you up to speed on things this side of the pond...

After my dear father passed away, I spent two weeks with my mother in her house. There was a lot of things to deal with, especially bureaucratic stuff! Ugh! I wouldn't believe the amount of "paper-pushing" we need to do when someone dies if I hadn't seen it! Goodness!!!

Then I headed back to my home and managed to convince my mum to come along! :D

The day after arriving home I get a knock on the door from some construction folks about my bathroom. Let me explain: Take a step back, well, maybe a year or so back please, to the time were there were some problems with our building's garage. Water was showing up down there and we couldn't figure out where it came from. So they pounded on walls, making holes until they found the spot. And the spot was... You guessed it! In my own bathroom!

Since they made a hole on my tiled wall and the building is over 15 years old, there are no tiles available that are exactly like the ones I had. Sooo... New tiles for the whole bathroom! Hurrayyy! Since it was a problem from the common areas of the building, the building insurance covers it. Great, huh?!

Long story short: The insurance pays for the tiles and the work and my mum decided to give me a great present: A new bathroom!

I forgot to take before pictures, but I can tell you we had a big gray tub, a big gray and marble lavatory and... Well, let's just say everything was gray in there: tiles, floor, toilet!... Yes, even the toilet! And I hated it, but couldn't afford to do something about it, so it was on my never ending "home improvement to do list"!

I LOOOOVE my big shower! The shower and the wall decoration are my two favorite things in this new bathroom.

We got a smaller lavatory with a cabinet underneath to store stuff (badly needed, let me tell you), a new WHITE toilet and we got rid of that monster bathtub where we only took showers anyway and switched it for this beautiful, sparkly walk in shower. Next to the shower there's my laundry basket (that I intend to paint and recycle as a toy basket) and the washing machine (there's nowhere else in the apartment to put it!).

These pictures were taken right after I finished cleaning for the first time after the construction work ended. Now I need to do some decorating... Any ideas you care to share, please?

We installed the shower head support this weekend. We needed one that could be adjustable in height so that my little boy could use it easily too. Now I just need to find the perfect towel rack and other similar items.

After all the cleaning was done, I tackled my studio. Got some new furnitures and a new setup for my workplace, but I'll leave that for the next post...
