Finalmente! / Finally!

Ufffff!
Desisti e comecei a arrumar.
:-D

----------------------------------------

Oufffff!
Finally, last night I finished a piece! From top to bottom, a nice pair of earrings (duhhh) full of looooove!
It was difficult! I started messing around with my beads and stuff right after dinner and I finished the earrings around half past midnight! They actually took about and hour of real work... The other hours were spent with failed attempts and sorting out beads, seed beads and findings to their boxes.
I started the night staring at the same things that I had dropped in my last frustrating night of beading nothing! I gave it up and started sorting. I deal "less well" with the mess when I wanna do something, either it's a simple task like... I don't know! - baking a cake, or a bit more complex task like jewelry, I just have to clean and sort everything out before I start working.
So... everything nice and neat, these boxes for seed beads, these for glass beads, sorted by color, another boxes for findings and metals... I was happy with what I accomplished! In the midst of sorting I found a project that i had started but never went past the first idea because the chain I used was too thin for the findings I had and I couldn't link it to nothing or add anything to it. This was a project I had started before I started experimenting wire working.
Looking at that chain I saw I could do something out of it, I just needed to take my 28 gauge wire and start working it! From the chain to the wire, from the wire to these beautiful Swarovski hearts, of a gorgeously intense red.. It was like doing the sparrow's little hops!
I tried incorporating some other Swarovski crystals but every time I finished it I got that feeling that something was wrong! I looked and looked at all my treasury boxes and I found the perfect match... Lot's of love!
I'll post a picture as soon as possible... It's just that I don't have a camera again... I had borrowed my friend and neighbor's camera but then she needed it, and now I'll have to borrow some other camera! I think I just might have to start a piggy bank to buy my own digital camera!

Frustração! / Frustration!

Estou chateada.
Sinto-me frustrada!

------------------------------------

I'm a bit upset.
It's been a couple of days since I'm thinking that I want to make something. I mean, I want to have that idea, start it and finish something. But apparently I can't!
Last night I sat at the computer, writing in the forum and googling for the way to feed my blog into Facebook and getting nothing except a large dose of frustration! Eventually I gave up and decided to ask someone who knows what he's doing. My friend C., thank you so much for your help. I couldn't have done it without you! :)
Anyway, last night I ended up not picking up my beads and wires and decided that tonight I would not let myself be "hooked" on my computer... and that what I did.
After finishing all the day's household tasks, I sat on my couch with all by bead containers, tools and stuff and one hour later... nothing! I messed with this, I played with that, I ruined a lot of wire and ended up staring at everything without the slightest idea of what's there just waiting to be made into something!
I feel frustrated!

Fechos / Clasps

Last night I made my first attempt to fabricate a certain clasp for necklaces and bracelets following the tutorial that Linda gave me on the forum...
Considering that I can't always find the right tools for the job, and that in this case I lacked an anvil, I think it came out fairly well! Can you guess which one one the very first?
Anyway, these wont be used in any of my creations. Now I need to practice, practice, practice!

O meu primeiro pendente / My first pendant

When I fell in love with Swarovski crystals I used to mainly make rings (yes, I know I haven't posted any yet... I'll get to it) and that's what gave me the knowledge I needed to make this pendant. It's very simple but so gracious and delicate that it doens't need anything else, so I didn't put it in a more elaborated necklace, i just used a black cord to firther enhance the crystal's glitter.

Dia de S. Valentim / Valentine's Day

--------------------------

This is such a sweet story that i just had to share it...
My baby boy, aged 5, has a girlfriend at (pre-)school. This year at the school they celebrated Valentine's Day on Friday with heart-shaped cards exchange, a candle lit lunch and dancing! Imagine that! For kids aged 3 to 5! LOL
My son loves his girlfriend, and when the 14th came e said to me "Today is Valentine's Day, I must see M, mum!" So, since I was going to humor him, I thought it would be cute that he would bring a present for her and, beadaholic that I am, I suggested that he'd make a bracelet for the little girl. He was so happy, he loved the idea and wanted to get started immediately! I put together some pink plastic beads that I had, with some plastic dolphins, butterflies and stars and gave it to him to thread into a... pink elastic!
LOL
My boy takes after his mother! He's got the talent and the patience! The little bracelet looked very cute and the little girlfriend was very happy with the gift!
This mum... Of course was very proud!!!

Sol estrelado / Starry sun

And back to earrings!
A while back I bought online some bead mixes... The first time I purchased it I was quite happy with the result, I understand that the stores sell in these mixes some items that they can't sell any other way so my expectations weren't high, but recently I ordered another mix because it was a really good price and... lets just say I wont do it again!
Anyway... In the first bead mix there were some really pretty glass beads and I especially liked these golden stars that were begging to become earrings! This is how they came out.

E agora algo completamente diferente!... / And now for something completely different!...

Earrings, earrings, earrings! Could it be that this woman only makes earrings?!
No!
I'll admit to making mostly earrings, because it's the kind of piece I cannot do without and that always fit any outfit, but I've made other things, like for instance, this bracelet!
This was not my first bracelet, but I just love it! Again.. Blue, of course! But in this case, blue, black and silver.
Two silvery chains united with links made with Swarovski 4 and 6mm crystal (crystal AB intercalated with Capri blue crystal), the black pendants are jet Swarovski cubes and round faceted jet Czech fire-polished glass beads. I used a simple lobster claw clasp that closes anywhere in the chain making the bracelet re-sizable, and dangling from the end there's a trio: two crystals, a blue and a crystal clear one, and a jet crystal cube.
I'd really like to know what you think of this bracelet, please leave a comment with your opinion.

Experiências com cristais / Experimenting with crystals

A simplicidade feita brinco. :)

-----------------------

These earrings were made quite some time ago. By then I only wanted to work with Swarovski crystals, I was bewitched  by it's shimmer and beauty. One of my favorite color is blue, so both pair are made with blue crystals.
The first, round pair, of earrings, include four 4mm swarovski crystals in two different kinds of blue, two rondelles with light blue chatons and a crystal clear briolette in the middle. These are quite simple earrings, but very elegant and it's hard not to notice when you're wearing them.
The second pair of earrings was an experiment I made in a night that I didn't have much to work with but my hands were asking me to do something... Each earring has a black 6mm crystal, a dark blue 6mm crystal and a 4mm crystal clear. Simplicity made into an earring. :)

By joining the forum that I'm always talking about, I met a wonderfull group of people that, not only are always there to help whoever shows up with questions and support who needs some cheering up, they also have the kind of social conscience that we don't find just anywhere.
This is the case of one of my new friends, Pros_Gal, who has her own shop in Etsy, where she's also part of a team, called Etsy Project Embrace, who donates 10% of their proceeds from sales to the American Cancer Society.
Recently this team was nominated to enter an online event that rewards those who give their love and donate from their lives to those in need.
I'm appealing for you to use a couple of seconds from your day and vote for Etsy Project Embrace, by clicking here. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen to find the voting board, and even tough they are far from the grand victory, with our help they won't come in last!

Estou tão contente!!! / I'm so happy!!!

Hoje fiz a minha primeira venda!

Today I made my first sale!

After joining the forum, I started this blog. After starting the blog I told some friends about it and... My good friend M just bought me a pair of earrings to give to his girlfriend on Valentine's Day! They're similar to the ones in the picture, but not exactly like it.
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
There's an old portuguese song, by Sérgio Godinho that says "Today is the first day of the rest of your life..."

Preto e brilhante! / Black and sparkly!

A while back, during a family lunch, my beloved sister-in-law was wearing a pair of earrings that I loved. They were big, with lots of movement to it, made out of brown glass beads and stones and copper colored findings. I stared and stared at them until I finally asked her if I could see them up close to figure out how they're made. That where i got the idea to make these, which are similar but, nevertheless, different.
It's one of my favorite pair and I wear them a lot. I used black glass faceted beads and Swarovski crystal bicones. I had a lot of fun through all the hours that it took me to make them!

Hoje... / Today...

Fui a primeira funcionária!

Today was a special day.
Today was a day to remember.
Ten years ago, today, I started working in the company where I still work. I was it's first employee!
Today all my friends and colleagues from work got together to congratulate me and my boss gave me a nice bouquet of orange flowers. Orange is our company's color.
Today was the day to feel the recognition for my work and the love of the ones who have been working by my side, with me and for the greater good of us all.

Yes, today was a special day!

As minhas primeira tentativas / My first attempts

Infelizmente, a loja fechou o mês passado...

----- // -----

I've decided to add to the same post my first poor attempts, made I don't know how long ago! And it's exactly because it was so long ago that I can't remember exactly what's behind the making of these pairs of earrings.

The blue earrings didn't turn out well, and as time went by it really shows, but I couldn't force myself  to pick them apart...

The black and gold earrings were made after a shy visit to a local store that sells jewelry and crafts supplies. That's where I first discovered the bead caps that I used to hang the headpin with gold and black beads. Unfortunately, the store closed last month...

Começando... / Getting started...

Bom, desejem-me sorte!

----- // -----

After joining a fantastic forum for jewelry junkies like me, I found myself wanting to expose my pieces, so that everybody can offer their opinion  on it.
I make jewelry mainly for myself or to give to someone special, never made anything to sell, although I wouldn't mind because I find most of the pleasure in making it! I'm a big wearer of jewelry too, so...
At this forum I was asked to show my work, and since it seemed difficult to clearly explain each and every piece i decided to start this blog to do exactly so.
I will try to write a post for every piece, with a picture and the history behind its creation, if I can remember all of them!

Well, wish me luck!
