Encomenda Personalizada - Parte II / Commissioned Work - Part II

Finalmente terminei a encomenda personalizada! Estou tão feliz com o resultado final!
A ideia original era obter um pendente triplo, com três pedras de vidro seguidas, uma por baixo da outra, como já tinha escrito num post anterior. De acordo com o que a cliente pediu, o design teria que ser simples e cada peça teria que complementar as outras.
Comecei com um wrapping simples, mas de quatro arames, pois sabia de antemão que as peças eram largas e redondas demais para ficarem bem seguras só com três. Até nisto estas peças me deram trabalho! Fiz e refiz os pendentes várias vezes até ficar satisfeita. Fiquei várias noites acordada até à uma da manhã para fazer isto, até que na noite de quinta-feira me dei por satisfeita. As três peças, ainda separadas ficaram assim:

Na noite de sexta-feira estava decidida a terminar o trabalho de uma vez por todas, até porque não tinha a certeza se a MJ (a cliente) se iria embora sábado ou domingo. É que morar numa zona turística tem destas coisas, os vizinhos vão e vêm várias vezes ao longo do ano! Sentei-me à minha mesa e comecei a trabalhar…
Começou logo a correr mal quando um dos arame de cima se partiu! Encontrei de imediato uma estratégia para resolver o problema e continuei a trabalhar no mesmo pendente com o mesmo conjunto de arames até que… partiu-se outro arame! GRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

Pronto, desmanchei tudo! Fiz uma pausa. Fui até à varanda e… Apareceu a minha vizinha a dizer que ia embora na manhã seguinte! Se já estava decidida a terminar a encomenda, agora é que tinha mesmo que ser!
Recomecei do início e desta vez correu melhor. Felizmente!
Agora que tinha todos os vidros devidamente seguros pelo arame, chegara a altura de decidir o design decorativo a fazer. Simples… Hummm… Acontece que com quatro arames a envolver a pedra acabo por ter oito para usar na decoração. Oito arames que têm mesmo que ser rematados. Oito arames permitem fazer decorações bastante intricadas e nada simples, mas …Parece-me que neste tipo de pendentes não há nada mais simples do que umas simples espirais. Certo? Certo. Resolvi experimentar. Afinal o pior que me podia acontecer era ter que recomeçar o pendente de novo! Fiz as espirais todas antes de tentar encontrar o lugar certo para elas e, mais uma vez, deixar-me ir pelo que a peça quer deu excelentes resultados! Distribuí as espirais pela parte de cima do vidro, em cascata e em menos de nada – ou assim me pareceu, porque entretanto o meu marido foi deitar-se! – tinha a primeira parte do pendente terminada! Olhei bem para ela, mirei e remirei e… Ta Da Tatataaa! I’m lovin’ it!

Pensei: é isto mesmo! Este é o design ideal e vai ficar óptimo nas outras peças também! Se bem o disse, melhor o fiz! E para variar correu tudo muito bem!

Decidi fazer a argola do primeiro pendente com quatro arames, primeiro para lhe dar mais resistência, já que terá que suportar o peso de todo o conjunto, e depois para usar pelo menos metade dos arames disponíveis para a decoração.

No segundo já não poderia fazer o mesmo, visto que os arames teriam de entrar numa argola de 4mm, assim sendo fiz-lhe uma argola apenas com dois arames para dar equilíbrio ao conjunto, enrolei outros dois arames à base da argola e mantive apenas quatro espirais na decoração.

A terceira parte do pendente é feita com um vidro um pouco maior. Mantive apenas dois arames para a argola, pois também tinha que entrar numa argola de 4mm, mas utilizei todos os restantes para a decoração, visto que o seu tamanho o permitia.

Por esta altura eram 1:30 da manhã. Admirei o meu trabalho por uns momentos até me lembrar que era melhor pegar na máquina fotográfica e tirar umas fotos antes de ter que entregar a peça à cliente.

Modéstia à parte... Acho que ficou mesmo um espanto! Creio que a cliente vai receber muitos elogios quando o usar.

I've finished it!

I have finally finished my commissioned work! I'm so happy about the end result!

The original idea was to have a triple pendant, with three pebbles one under the other, as I wrote in a previous post. Acconding to what the client asked, the design would be simple and each piece would be complementary of the others.
 I started with a simple wrap, but with four wires because I knew beforehand  that the pebbles were too thick and too round to use just three. Even  with this simple wrap these piece made me sweat! I made and re-made the pendants until I was happy with them. I stayed up until one in the morning for several nights to work on this pendant, until Thursday night I was happy with it. The three pieces, still unconnected, looked like this:

On Friday night  I was determined to finish the work once and for all, because I was not sure when MJ (the client) would leave, if it was on Saturday or on Sunday. You see, living in a tourist zone has it's  differences, the neighbors come and go several times over the year! I sat at my table and started working...
It started off wrong when one of the top wires broke! I immediately found a way to fix it and kept on working with the same set of wires until... Another one broke! GRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

There, I cut it apart! I took a break. I went in the balcony and... My neighbor showed up telling me she was leaving the next morning! I was already determined to finish this order, but now I really had to!
I started it all over and this time it ran quite smoother. Luckily!
Now that I had all the pebbles properly wrapped with the wire, the time had come to choose on the decorative design to be done. A simple one... Hummm... You see, the thing is when you have four wires wrapping the piece, you end up with eight wires to use in the decorative design. Eight wires that really need to be finished. Eight wires will provide the possibility to make rather intricate designs an not-so-simple, but...  In my opinion, for this kind of pendants there's nothing simpler than some simple spirals. Right? Right. I thought I should give it a try. After all the worst that could happen was having to start it all over again! I made all the spirals before trying to find the right place for them and, once again, letting me go with what the piece asked for provided for an excellent end result! I arranged the spirals cascading over the top of the pebble and  in a heart beat - or so it seemed because in the meanwhile, my husband went to bed! - I had the first part of the pendant finished! I gave it a good look,  a really goooood look and… Ta Da Tatataaa! I’m lovin’ it!

I thought: This is it!  This is the perfect design and it'll look great on the other pieces too! It was said and done! And for a change it went really well!

I decided to make the bail for the first  part of the pendant with four wires, for starters to add to its strength since it will have to support the weight for the whole pendant, and then to use at least half the wires available for decorating.

On the second part of the pendant I couldn't do the same kind of bail because the wires would have to fit into a 4mm jump ring, so I made the bail with only two wires to give the set some balance, I wrapped  two others to the base of the bail and kept only four spirals as decoration.

The third part of the pendant is made with a somewhat bigger pebble. I kept just two wires for the bail, since it was necessary that it also fit into a 4mm jump ring, but I used all the other wires to decorate, since the pebble's size allowed it.

By now it's 1:30 AM. I admired my work for a while until I remembered that I should pick up my camera and take some pictures before delivering the piece to my client.

Modesty aside... I think it look really awesome! I believe my client will get plenty of compliments on it when she wears it.
