Encomenda Personalizada - Parte I / Commissioned Work - Part I

Terminei, finalmente a primeira parte da encomenda personalizada que a minha vizinha me fez! Wooohooo! É muito importante para mim que ela fique muito satisfeita! Uma amiga trouxe-lhe as peças de vidro de Marrocos, o que por si só já lhes confere um significado especial, mas eu quero acrescentar a esse significado especial transformando-as em três peças únicas. Talvez por isso eu esteja a ser tão esquisita com o resultado final destas peças! De acordo com o que me foi pedido usei três cores diferentes de arame para os três anéis.

Passei várias semanas a pesquisar diferentes formas de fazer anéis ajustáveis até encontrar um que me satisfizesse. Comecei por fazer o protótipo do post anterior. O primeiro anel é o resultado de seguir esse tutorial e do processo de aprendizagem que o protótipo me proporcionou… E não só! Escolhi a minha cor preferida para começar: o vidro azul e usei o arame banhado a prata. Digamos que… Não correu exactamente como planeado!... O vidro é bastante maior e tem uma forma muito mais arredondada que o que eu usei para o protótipo, o que fez com o arame não o segurasse devidamente. Sou uma perfeccionista e quero fazer das minhas peças um exemplo de qualidade por isso…

Passei muito tempo a pensar em como me assegurar de que o vidro iria ficar seguro pelo arame sem correr o risco de ele se soltar inadvertidamente. Procurei ajuda nos conselhos dos meus amigos do fórum até acabar por encontrar uma solução, fazendo uma ligeira modificação do design original e acrescentando arame onde era necessário. Não tive coragem para desmanchar logo o primeiro anel, então peguei noutro vidro para começar tudo de novo. Escolhi o arame de cobre para o vidro verde e gosto bastante dele.

De seguida, ainda sem vontade de desmanchar o anel azul, resolvi pegar no vidro vermelho. A este atribuí o arame dourado. Vermelho e ouro é uma combinação de luxo!

Infelizmente… Também não correu bem! Sim, é verdade: esta tem sido uma “viagem” atribulada!

Este nem cheguei a acabá-lo, parei a meio, desmanchei-o e comecei de novo, com arame novo, desta vez deixando-me levar pelo arame, permitindo-me ser transportada pela criatividade. A base deste anel é do mesmo tipo mas a parte decorativa é muito mais trabalhada e feminina, na minha opinião.

Por fim peguei no vidro azul para fazer outro anel. Lá tive que desmanchar o primeiro, mas desta vez muito mais animada porque já tinha encontrado a solução e também já tinha tomado a decisão de me deixar levar de novo. É extraordinário aquilo que conseguimos realizar quando nos concentramos na peça e deixamos os dedos terem a sua conversa íntima com o arame, para juntos moldarmos uma peça única e muitas vezes irrepetível.

Sentei-me na minha mesa de trabalho a olhar para o arame banhado a prata e o vidro azul por uns momentos e depois… Fui na onda azul marinha do arame e do vidro.

Agora só falta dedicar-me ao pendente que a MJ também me encomendou. Espero que a viagem do pendente seja menos atribulada que a dos anéis e também que seja, pelo menos, tão fantástica como esta foi.

I finally finished the first part of the commissioned work my neighbor ordered me! Wooohooo! It's very important to me that she's really happy with it! A friend of hers brought her the glass pebbles from Morocco, which by itself gives them a special meaning, but I want to add to that special meaning turning them into three one-of-a-kind pieces. Maybe that's why I'm being so particular about the way they turn out! According to what she wants, I used three different wire colors for the three rings.

I spent several weeks researching different ways to make adjustable rings 'till I found one that I was pleased with. I started out by making the prototype ring from the previous post. The first ring is the result of following that tutorial and the learning process it provided me... And that's not all! I chose my favorite colors to start with: the blue pebble and the silver plated wire. Let's just say... It didn't go exactly as planned!... The glass pebble is quite larger and rounder than the cab I used for the prototype, which caused for the wire to not hold the pebble properly. I an a perfectionist and I want my pieces to be an example of quality so...

I spent a lot of time figuring out how to make sure that pebble stays secured by the wire with no chance of it ever falling out. I reached for the help of my friends at the forum and eventually came up with a solution, making a slight modification to the original design and adding wire where it was needed. I didn't have the heart to cut the first ring apart, so I picked up another glass pebble to start all over again. I chose the copper wire for the green glass pebble and I quite like it.

Next, and still not feeling up to taking the blue ring apart, I decided to pick the red one up. To this one I gave the golden wire. Red and gold just spell luxury to me!

Unfortunately... It didn't go well either! Yes, this has been a "rough ride"!
I didn't even finish this one, I stopped halfway through it, took it apart and started over, with new wire, this time I let the wire take me, allowing myself to ride the creativity. The basis for this ring is quite the same but the decorative part is much swirlier and more feminine, in my opinion.

Last but not least, I picked up the blue pebble to make another ring. I had to cut the first one apart, but I was feeling much better about it because I had found the answer and I had decided to listen to the wire again. It is extraordinary what we can accomplish when we concentrate on the piece and let our fingers have their little intimate conversation with the wire, so that together we can create a unique and often unrepeatable piece.
I sat at my work table staring at the silver plated wire and the blue pebble for a moment a then... I just let it flow... Rode the sea blue wave of wire and glass.

Now I just need to focus on the pendant that MJ also ordered me. I hope the ride for the pendant is a little less rough than this one and that it's also at least as fun as this one was.
