Gratificação instantânea! / Instant gratification!

Sinto-me muito satisfeita comigo própria.

----------------------------

In the early days of this month, while stroling trough a Fnac store, I found a book that caught my eye and ended up buying it. It's in english and it's called Creating Wire and Beaded Jewelry, by Linda Jones. I'm very happy with it, because this little book covers all the basic skills that I already knew, but I feel it's always good to recicle and discover new ways of doing the same things, and it also teaches how to make several kinds of chains, bracelets, rings, earrings... All of which more or less basic but classic examples of techiniques that may be used to make other, more elaborated and beautiful pieces.

From here I started exploring new ways of wire working and made my first attempt at a Tree of Life. It's not on of the book's projects, but one thing led to another...
The Tree of Life has deep roots in most of the worlds cultures and religions, and in the western culture it's a way of representing the Paradise's Tree, not the one from where the proverbial apple came from, that's the Tree of the Knowledge of good and Evil, but another one, who would provide the eternal life. Nowadays, this tree symbolizes not only life or immortality, but also luck, fortune, harmony or the universe. In jewelry we find mostly Tree of Life pendants but I've seen bracelets also. I made a pendant, and  I've been told by some very knowledgeable people that, for a firs time it came out really good!

Back to the book, it includes a project to make simple rings and, ofcourse that I had to try! I made a ring but, to be truthful, i wasn't happy with it. It didn't seem right and I even wear it one day to see how it went, but even then I wasn't convinced. I made a web research to find other ways of doing it and voilá!

In the picture there are six rings, but i made seven in a row! After I get the hang of it it was a breeze! I mean, after I found out that it wasn't coming out right because I was using 12 gauge wire instead of 16 gauge which I think it's usuas for this rings... When I picked up the 16 gauge wire it was spectacularly easy!!! I'm very happu with these rings. They are, starting from the left: Copper wire ring with a pink star shaped glass 10mm bead and two cat's eye 4mm beads; Copper wire ring with a 20mm coin glass bead in black and gold; Silver wire ring with a blue and yellow 20mm glass bead; Silver wire ring with a heart shaped 15mm glass bead in baby blue and white; in front of this one there's a Silver wire ring with a 20mm pink glass bead, and finally, a Copper wire ring with 6mm cloisonné beads, six green and one black, shaped to form a flower.
I made another ring, but that's a susprise for a very dear person and so I won't post it here yet!

I'm very happy with my progress. I feel very pleased with myself. I'm very happy with all the support I've got, especially with my husbands support who is always the to praise me, or to tell me very honestly when my work isn't that good.
Now, I just want to find the time to make my own work space at home, like we talked about. We're going to have to make some changes, move the furniture around, etc, but I think it will work out just fine, really very well. In the time being I've been working on my couch with a tray on my lap, but I think that it's taking a tole on my back so I want a table as soon as possible, a space dedicated only to my creations... A Sunshine's Creations Design Studio! LOL I promise to post some pictures afterwards!
